Great customer service and super fast shipping

by:

Product well bulit & installed easy. Fit great.

by:

Well designed and fairly simple to install. Fits 2011 Outback Wagon very well.

by:

This was much easier to in stall than it looked. Arrived quickly!

by:

Hitch arrived within days of order. Installation was true to description. Quality product for a great price. Highly recommend.

by:

Product was shipped in a box that was to big. It must have bounced around during shipping and got a fairly deep scratch on it, down to the metal. I'll have to spray it with some rustolium before I install it. Aside from that it came fast with all parts.

by:

The only video to review was the Subaru 2010 and that does not include drilling holes. Once I read the direction I was fine.

by:

Great product and the video was helpful. Took 3 hours to install with 2 people. Free shipping is a big plus.

by:

Everything purchased was received and installed exactly as the tips, directions and video showed. It was a great experience over all. I have told everyone who will listen about etrailer.com. Thank you.

by:

I was very surprised at how well built the hitch is. Very heavy. I only which Subaru would have pre-drilled holes for a hitch. SOA knows that a large part of there customers buy there vechiles for the utility factor. So to not have there vechiles pre-drilled and pre-wired is very poor on there part.

by:

The hitch looks great. And by great, I mean that it is very unobtrusive but if you do notice it then you will notice how good it looks. The video instructions were incredible. I wish every product that I bought had instructions like that. The only negative was the stickers they put on the there. One on the front and one on the side. Also I'd rather see it in flat black so the hitch is even less noticeable. After installing this product on my car I can say that I am completely confident that it will outlast my car. It's a big chunk of metal.

by:

Fast shipping, great price, great hitch. The hitch was shipped promptly, the instructions were clear and correct, and the hitch fit perfectly. The installation video on the eTrailer.com website was extremely helpful. I am very happy with my purchase, and will definitely buy from eTrailer.com in the future.

by:

The instructional video was only fair but it installed with no problems. Good quality. Quick delivery. For the etrailer techs, instead of butchering up the frame with chisels, etc., just use a hole enlarging (conical) drill bit and you won't be left with jagged metal.

by:

Perfect! Installed exactly as the video shows. Looks much nicer than many other after market hitches (in my opinion). Performs as it should. Amazing service and delivery by etrailer. Thanks so much!

by:

This company is about as easy as it gets to do business with. I found everything I needed at a GREAT price. Get this, I shipped it ground for free, but then they notified me they upgraded my shipping to 3-5 days!!! I would do business with these guys anytime. I only wish more online retailers operated as well as etrailer.com does. Internet excellence.

by:

The hitch and accessories were delivered in three days. The instructions included and the videos on the web site were very helpful in the installation of both the hitch and the wiring harness.

by:

Bought this hitch for 2010 Subaru Outback.Fit was excellent,on the car in 30 minutes. If you can drill a hole, you can mount install this hitch. E-Trailer's shipping was fast, shipping was MORE than reasonable($0),I would and will do business with them again...they are people just like you and I..check out their company photo at the bottom of "about us"...Thank YOU, E-Trailer!

by:

Googled trailer hitch 2011 outback. Liked it, web site not working for placing the order so I called. They sent me a hitch that did not match the video I was looking at. After some confusion, I called and was told that I had ordered the wrong part, but the operator was the one who told me what part I needed. Service was bad from etrailer due to this, but they did give me the number to Curts and they were fantastic. Andy was helpful, we drilled a 1 1/8" hole instead of dilling holes by the existing hole and bending back. The dewalt holesaw was great - Lenox brand was not good. Etrailer was very quick on shipping - ordered Tuesday afternoon, got it Thursday, installed Friday. Installation took about 4 hours, but 2 hours of that was figuring that etrailer ordered the wrong hitch. Kinda glad they did, Curts is great!

by:

The hitch arrived in two days two weeks ahead of car
Just had it installed on My subaru this morning and tried out my new bike rack
This is one sturdy solid hitch
Thanks for a quality product at a great price and excellent service
The web site was a cinch to navigate

by:

Awesome product, we received our order quickly, and it was easy to install. Took me about 1.5 to 2 hours to install the hitch and trailer wiring. Hitch works awesome! Thanks for the great service and product.

I used this kit on a 2012 Subaru Outback wagon after i got the high price for add-on from the dealer. I viewed the website video, read the instructions and installed it, but in three hours, not 90 minutes. The things i liked were the quality of hardware, good instructions, and the web video. I really liked the bolt snaking tool. The only difference between the 2011 and 2012 is that the muffler is mounted differently, so i had to figure that out myself, but it was pretty easy. The wiring instructions were very good and lead me right to the factory connector. I like the hitch, the quality of the accessory hardware, the bag, and the US flag filler. The only thing i did not like was that the instructions for drilling / enlarging the hole to fish in the bolt seemed to be for smaller bolts than mine and took more time and effort. Again though, i saved $500.00 and this is an excellent kit

by:

I just finished installing my new hitch on my 2011 outback. I am very happy with the results, the hitch fit like a glove and the hardware and instructions are great. I highly recommend watching the instructional
video, it is very helpful. Installation took me about an hour using basic tools. the hitch works very well with my bike rack.
Thanks again to e-trailer for providing a great product and excellent service at a fair price.

This is the third Curt hitch I have purchased from etrailer.com. All have been very well made and relatively easy to install. With this one, however, I thought I might pass on a couple of recommendations. 1. The instructions which accompany the hitch show only three holes in in the frame rail. There are actually four. Using only the three shown in page 1 of the instructions actually places the hitch 4 inches forward (toward the front of the car) than it actually needs to be. Worse yet, these mounting holes (1/4" in diameter) are the exact distance apart for the hitch, so all one needs to do is enlarge them to 1/2 inch for the bolts, so it is easy to mistakenly mount the hitch in the wrong location. If one views the installation video first, it is less easy to be confused, but still possible. 2. I suggest modifying the instructions to show 4 (four) holes and advise the reader to remove the plugs on the two rear-most (on each side) holes. These are already the correct size for the bolts. Mate the two rear-most holes of the hitch with these holes and after affixing the hitch with two bolts using these holes, drill new holes on each frame rail for the other two (forward) attachment points. Continue the installation as shown in the video. I also suggest modifying the instruction document to reflect the information provided in the video - - it is correct. Thank you for a great product and for great service.

Received this hitch in perfect condition in a timely manner. Bit tricky to install but the enclosed innstructions are very clear. I was not too crazy about having to drill holes into the mainframe of a car only 3 weeks old though. Had to patch up the holes with a super quality 3m marine sealant designed for below waterline use. This was to provide a permanent moisture barrier to prevent rust from forming on the freshly cut metal edges. Had the inside rails resprayed with rustproofing compound. Overall, the entire install took me 51 minutes with basic hand tools. I was fortunate that my neighbour has a gargae and provided me with a hoist. Installing this hitch without having the car elevated would be nearly impossible. No pics, sorry. Hands way too dirty to handle a camera. Etrailer has always provided me with exceptional service. They also price matched as per their policy immediately.

by:

I think this will serve my purpose. I wish to pull a 4x8 utility trailer with 4-wheeler. My son hopes the bolts are strong enough as intended. I thought the hitch would be more hidden but it will be ok as is. Less expensive than the dealership price.
The wiring instructions have it going thru the back and out of the hatch door. Not a good idea so we installed wiring underneath.

I just purchased a 2014 Subaru outback. I need a 2 hitch to haul my bikes. I already have a Hollywood rack that holds 4 bikes and would like to drive the outback some of the time instead of my gas guzzling Toyota Tundra. Recommendations?

I called up a couple of our manufacturers, and there is no word yet on when hitches will be available for a 2014 Outback. As soon as they do become available, we will add them to our website and they will show up in the Fit Guide. If you are in need of a hitch right away, I would imagine the dealer would have them available but they may be more costly than an aftermarket unit.

  • Comparing Curt 13390 and 13206 Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon
The difference between the Curt # 13390 and # C13206 hitches is that the 13206 sits up closer to the bumper by about 1/4" and the receiver sits out further to the back of the vehicle by about 1/8" - aside from that the dimensions are the same. Curt made this redesign and just started listing the 13206 for the Subaru Outback Wagons starting with the 2014-2015 model year. Since Curt recommends the 13206 for your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon that's what I recommend going with as well. Attached...

  • How to Prevent the Trailer Hitch from Scraping the Ground on a 2015 Subaru Legacy
I do have an option for you but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13390 on your 2015 Subaru Legacy already has the highest ground clearance (10-1/4") of any other trailer hitch receiver we have confirmed to fit your vehicle. This measurement is taken from the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening on the hitch. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410 will look better on your 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon than the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13390. Since the # C13410 has a hidden cross tube less of the receiver is visible. When it comes to installation most will likely prefer the # 13390 as it does not involve removing the rear fascia to fit the receiver behind the bumper impact structure. As you mentioned both receivers have the same rating of 600lbs tongue weight and trailer rating of 4,000lbs.

Curt has a very similar hitch to the # 13206 that DOES fit your 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon with the part # 13390 but the # 13206 does not fit your vehicle so it would not be what you'd want. For a more concealed trailer hitch option we have the Curt # C13410 which only has the hitch opening hanging below the rear bumper which gives it more of a concealed look.

With your Curt # 13390 hitch, you can add an adapter like # D-192 (45792) but it will reduce the trailer hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. This will not restrict your rack as the hitch is already rated for 600 lbs giving you a 300 lb capacity remaining. The T2 Pro 2 bike rack # TH83JV and 2-bike add-on # TH9036XT, when used together, have a total weight capacity of 160 lbs and weigh 113 lbs, so you will still be under the hitch weight limit. Curt and Draw Tite tend to be a little more on the traditional side when it comes to hitch size availability if that makes sense. What I mean by that is if it's a smaller vehicle they stick with the smaller hitch size as that's the most appropriate and relevant option.
